Pooled Analysis of Safety and Efficacy of Oxaliplatin Plus Fluorouracil/Leucovorin Administered Bimonthly in Elderly Patients With Colorectal Cancer

The September 1, 2006, article by Goldberg et al entitled, “Pooled Analysis of Safety and Efficacy of Oxaliplatin Plus Fluorouracil/Leucovorin Administered Bimonthly in Elderly Patients With Colorectal Cancer” (J Clin Oncol 24:4085–4091, 2006) was published online September 1, 2006 with errors.
In the Patients and Methods section, under Study Design, the first sentence of the second paragraph indicated that 2,248 patients were enrolled in study A, whereas it should have been 2,246 patients, as follows:
“Study A, the Multicenter International Study of Oxaliplatin/5FU-LV in the Adjuvant Treatment of Colon Cancer (MOSAIC) trial, enrolled 2,246 patients with completely resected stage II/III colon cancer between October 1998 and January 2001.”
In the same section, under Study Design, the first sentence of the third paragraph indicated that 412 patients were enrolled in study B, whereas it should have been 420 patients, as follows:
“Between August 1995 and July 1997, study B (de Gramont et al6) enrolled a total of 420 patients receiving first-line treatment for advanced colorectal cancer and evaluated the benefit of the addition of oxaliplatin to the LV5FU2 treatment.”
In Table 1, some of the data were inadvertently transposed between the Goldberg and Rothenberg studies.
In the Results section, the first sentence of the first paragraph indicated that 3,742 patients were enrolled onto four studies, whereas it should have been 3,743 patients, as follows:
“A total of 3,743 patients were enrolled onto the four studies.”
In the same section, the second sentence of the first paragraph indicated that 304 patients age 70 or older were included in the studies, whereas it should have been 314 patients, as follows:
“The trials included 1,567 patients age younger than 70 and 314 patients (16% of the total population) age 70 or older treated with FOLFOX4.”
All corrections have been made as of May 1, 2008.
